April 17, 2006

Members in attendance: Dennis Olson, Judy Ciampoli, Mark Clark, Demion Clinco, Ann Fina, Ann Hastings, Elaine Hill, Beth Janes, Gary Molenda

Guests:  Janet Marcus, Jack  de Pagter (OFLNA members and residents)

President Dennis Olson called the meeting to order at 7:12 pm.

Approval of Minutes

Ann Hastings moved and Ann Fina seconded that we approve the February 2006 meeting minutes. Motion carried.  There was not a quorum at the March meeting, so no official minutes were taken. Notes from the meeting were prepared and reviewed by Council members.

Treasurer’s Report

Beth Janes reported that currently OFLNA has $72, 415 in savings and checking accounts. She reviewed current income and expense figures.

Committee Reports/Old Business:

Land Plan:   Elaine Hill noted that a memo was sent to the Planning Commission RE TMC’s Plan Amendment outlining OFLNA’s response. The PAD process will begin in May.

A letter was prepared RE 4969 E. Glenn and will be sent to the Dept of Urban Planning and Design, following comments for changes suggested by Council members. Demion Clinco moved and Beth Janes seconded that the letter be sent with those modifications. Motion carried.

Architect Phil Swain is preparing plans for a 15,000 sq ft building to be constructed on Camp Lowell, east of Bashas’ supermarket. The structure will house a museum of miniatures. The OFLNA land plan committee has met with the principals involved.

There is nothing new to report on the property line issue on the Chapel campus. The Studio building was burglarized recently and the lock has been changed. Components of our public address system were stolen.

La Reunion 2006

Janet Marcus prepared and distributed an evaluative report on our 25th anniversary La Reunion event in February. She reminded us that the co-chairs of the event are “retiring” after many successful years of leading this signature event, and that new leadership will need to take on this project. There is general agreement that we need to continue this celebration of our history.  The group discussed many ideas of ways to continue the event with perhaps a few modifications to our current format. Mark Clark offered to assist with strategizing about this event.

Property issues

On March 29th, the City approved all variances OFLNA requested for San Pedro Chapel property, so we can move to the next steps for construction of the Chapel support building.

Neighbor Jack de Pagter stated his views on a number of concerns he has about the support building plans. The OFLNA subcommittee (Larry Hecker, Bill Anderson and Demion Clinco) that was formed to investigate these issues will follow up with the de Pagters as soon as possible.

New Business

April Flea market: work is proceeding on schedule. Many volunteers are assisting with sorting, pricing, cleaning, etc.

Nominations for Council positions: A nominating committee (Janet Marcus, Judy Ciampoli and Ann Hastings) will meet to discuss recruitment of several new Council members to replace those rotating off.

The OFLNA Annual Meeting and dinner will be the evening of May 21st.

Elaine Hill moved and Demion Clinco seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 8:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Judy Ciampoli, OFLNA Secretary
